Desta Raines is a transformational global corporate social responsibility leader with a proven track record developing and operationalizing innovative approaches to systemic sustainability and supply chain challenges that focus on measurable impact, advocacy and multi-stakeholder engagement.
In her role as the Senior Director, Factory Support Services, Apparel & Home Goods Program at Fair Trade USA she is leading the successful revamping and rollout of all operational aspects for Factory Support Services in 14 countries. This includes global talent management, new country expansion, process design, tools, training, policy formation and strategic stakeholder engagement.
Work closely with brand partners such as Target, West Elm, Patagonia, PrAna, JCREW and others to ensure they and their factories and the factories’ workers are engaged and benefiting from the Fair Trade factory program.
Prior to Fair Trade, Desta established and ran the Labor & Human Rights program for Apple’s supply chain and also covered stakeholder engagement for them. Desta was recognized for her leadership last year when she was name one of the Top 100 Corporate Social Responsibility Influence Leaders 2019.
Purchasers often have difficulty assessing whether their sustainability efforts and criteria have the desired impact deep in global supply chains. In this session, three presenters will report out on successful efforts to drive change in selected supply chains.
