SPLC Summit Submission Details
Basics:
- Call for Submissions opens November 1 and closes December 16, 2019
- Submission Acceptance notices will be delivered by Feb 1, 2020
- Presenter registration is required by March 1, 2020
- Individuals may submit as many proposals as they wish
- Submitters may edit submission information until the December 16, 2019 deadline

Presentation formats:
Interactive Workshop (60 mins):
An interactive workshop should engage the participants actively in learning new information or techniques by stimulating creativity through collaborative work. Each workshop should feature expert guidance by presenters, discussion of real-world experience, and peer-to-peer discussion and collaborative problem solving.
Full Panel Session (60 mins)
This presentation type is intended to be a moderated discussion, involving experts in a particular area of specialty. It is the responsibility of the submitter to find and organize all presenters and to find or serve as moderator. Each panel session should be comprised of an introduction to the topic, a number of presentations on individual projects or topics, and a final discussion and/or Q&A between the panelists and the audience.
Lightning Talk (10-15 mins + 5 mins Q&A)
The goal of a lightning talk is to present a case study, research report, or other information in a quick, insightful, and clear manner. SPLC will organize accepted lightning talks into 60-minute thematically organized sessions that include several topically related talks. (Submitters who wish to coordinate their presentations with other presenters should submit a Full Panel Session proposal.)
Innovation Accelerator Roundtable Presentations (10 min presentation + 20 min discussion)
The purpose of Innovation Accelerator talks is to share cutting edge solutions – an innovative project, initiative, big idea, or next/best practice — with a table of ten participants, followed by general discussion of the tool or opportunity presented. Each round of the Accelerator lasts 30 minutes, at which point participants switch tables. The presenter should be prepared to present twice, and to speak no longer than 10 minutes each time before opening the floor to discussion.
Submission process notes
- All submissions should be delivered through our Submissions Platform
- Those submitting Lightning Talks, Interactive Workshops or Innovation Accelerator Roundtable proposals should submit individually and will be provided with one Presenter registration if their proposal is accepted.
- If submitting a panel proposal, one person will need to gather all co-presenter information and submit the full proposal. See the Panel Proposal detail page for an email template you can use to ensure you receive all required information from your co-presenters.
- If submitting an Innovation Accelerator Roundtable, please make specific mention of the opportunity you are providing participants to engage and support an innovative tool or process.
- If submitting an Interactive Workshop proposal please be clear on the specific methods you will use to engage participants in small group discussion or other active involvement with the topic.
- Presenters will sign a release granting SPLC the right to share the content of presentations following the Summit.
