Director, Environmental Purchasing, Commonwealth of Massachusetts
Julia is the Director of Environmental Purchasing at the Commonwealth of Massachusetts’ Operational Services Division. Julia works with procurement sourcing teams at OSD to integrate environmental specifications into statewide contracts, and provide outreach to buyers, in addition to working with other local, state, and national workgroups on furthering sustainable procurement and completes an annual progress report. She led a multi-state procurement for Environmentally Preferable Cleaning Products which received recognition from the Sustainable Procurement Leadership Council and the National Association of State Procurement Officials, and developed an Environmentally Preferable furniture guide. She facilitated the addition of commercial battery electric lawn equipment to the Commonwealth statewide contracts, and is working on trainings and a technical assistance program. Julia co-chairs the Toxics Reduction Task Force. Julia previously worked for the US EPA Region 9 Office on Pollution Prevention and Toxics and Solid Waste Programs. She returned to the east coast and joined the Commonwealth’s Department of Environmental Protection Waste Programs Division and Toxics and Hazards Program before joining OSD.
